Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand are this afternoon leading celebrity sides in a game in aid of those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
Damien Lewis, Olly Murs, James Bay and Mo Farah are just some of the star names that are getting a chance to show off their footballing prowess in front of a packed Loftus Road, just a mile from the Tower.
At least 80 people died and over 70 were injured on June 14th when the 24-storey apartment block was consumed by a fire in the middle of the night. Considering how worthy a cause it is, it’s no surprise support for the event has been massive.
Prior to kick-off, Shearer gave an informal team-talk in the dressing room and wasted no time in having a dig at Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho who is expected to make a short cameo in the game.

“Last night we got some great news…when I heard the greatest manager ever was coming to join us. I’ve got to apologise, Sir Alex (Ferguson) isn’t here but we’ve got the second greatest manager.”
The game has thus far been awash with comical defending and the sides are level at 1-1 at half-time.
