Sky Sports have reported that 22-year-old Irish international Shane Duffy has signed for Blackburn Rovers after leaving Everton. The deal will run for three years.
Duffy joined the Liverpool club in 2009 as a youth but is now looking to take a step down in level to get some proper game time. He played all of last season on loan at Yeovil where he made 37 starts and although Yeovil were relegated, Duffy’s experience in the league last season should stand to him.
It is also a good sign that he has attracted interest from a club still in the division. It is yet to be seen how much of an influence the former Everton man can make at Ewood Park but having another Irish player playing regularly in the Championship gives Roy Keane and Martin O’Neill something to consider for Ireland also.
