Shamrock Rovers’ Ambitious New Home Kit Is Seriously Dividing Opinion

Shamrock Rovers 2018 Kit

Shamrock Rovers have released arguably what could be the most ambitious new kit for the coming League of Ireland season.

Clubs up and down the country have begun the process of unveiling the jerseys that their players will be wearing in 2018, with four released on Friday a particularly busy day for club stores and offices.

Rovers followed suit on Saturday and while they were never going to deviate from the traditional green and white hoops, they have incorporated an interesting ‘fading’ effect into the design.

The Tallaght-based club, who also guaranteed Europa League football next year by finishing third in the Premier Division, also unveiled their new New Balance training range – as modelled below by their new Ethan Boyle clones:

So far, the kit has been receiving a mixed reception on social media as fans and neutrals alike adjust to the interesting new design:

In another busy day for kit launches, First Division clubs Longford Town and Finn Harps have also unveiled their kits for the new season. De Town, in addition to their regular black and red striped home jersey, have also unveiled a yellow chequered design for their away effort:

Recently relegated Harps, meanwhile, have gone with a slick blue effort that is similar in design to the new Sligo Rovers kit (which is no surprise given the fact that Joma manufacture both):
