Manchester City’s appeal to overturn star striker Sergio Aguero’s three match ban has been rejected by the FA.
The news will come as a big blow to Pep Guardiola but will hardly be a surprise as the incident seemed as clear an example of violent conduct as one is likely to see.
Manchester City are likely to have built a case around this being completely out of character for the Argentine. who has never been sent off in 212 appearances for City. but to no avail.

Aguero will now miss the hugely anticipated Manchester derby on September 10th, as well as fixtures against Bournemouth and Swansea.
The timing of his suspension is especially poor for Man City given that they have just sold striker Wilfried Bony to Stoke City, but they can at least be thankful that new signing Nolito has hit the ground running since joining in the summer from Celta Vigo.
