With The Guardian reporting that Manchester United are preparing a bid for Everton’s Seamus Coleman in January, there is now every chance that this move may go ahead.
After a dull nil all draw a few days ago with Tottenham, I wrote that Manchester United right back Rafael Da Silva may simply not be up to par for the Old Trafford outfit. With wide reports that United will make a move for the Irish defender Seamus Coleman, it seems that Louis Van Gaal may be taking a similar perspective.
Jamie Jackson of The Guardian wrote that “Van Gaal wants to sign a high-class right-back as he has little faith in Rafael da Silva, the only established player in the position in his squad.”
Rafael has now played for United for over 6 years since signing in 2008 and although the young Brazilian has shown plenty of promise, he has never truly delivered on a consistent basis.
Coleman however has all the attributes to be a top player for United and would no doubt be a permanent fixture at right back should the move go ahead.
