Sam Allardyce Confirms Everton Negotiations For Arsenal Star

Sam Allardyce

Sam Allardyce is eager to put his own stamp on the Everton team.

Arsenal are facing into a tricky month as far as the transfer market is concerned. With the star duo of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil nearing the end of their respective contracts, the Gunners are faced with the decision whether to cash in this month or risk losing them for free later in the year.

Today, it has emerged that they could be also set to lose Theo Walcott. The England international has been at the Emirates since 2006, after joining from Southampton. While many feel he hasn’t lived up to expectations after predictions of big things upon his arrival from Southampton, he has nonetheless carved out a solid career with Arsenal, making 269 appearances for the club, scoring 65 goals.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce confirmed that the Toffees are in negotiations for a permanent move for the England international.

“It’s not imminent but negotiations are going on and we’re hoping to negotiate a permanent deal,” said Allardyce, as reported by BBC.

“I don’t get optimistic otherwise I get disappointed. I’ll be very excited and enthused when someone, even if it’s not Theo, has signed on the dotted line.”

The Toffees are eager to add steel to their side ahead of the second half of the season, as Big Sam aims to move up the table. Everton endured a disappointing start to the year after a big-spending summer, and parted ways with manager Ronald Koeman. This month represents Allardyce’s first chance to put his own stamp on the side, and it would be a huge lift
