Mamadou Sakho’s Liverpool Career Could Be Over After Shocking Social Media Rant

Mamadou Sakho seems determined to set fire to his Liverpool career.

The defender has endured something of a rocky relationship with manager Jurgen Klopp in recent months, and his latest actions are almost certain to deepen the rift further.

Klopp had claimed in midweek that the reason for the 26-year-old’s continued absence from the team is down to a lack of match sharpness, which Sakho has now emphatically denied.

In a series of stunningly ill-advised posts on his Snapchat account in the early hours of this morning, Sakho effectively accused Klopp and Liverpool of lying about his situation, insisting that he has been fully fit and training for the past three weeks and questioning why he has not been included in the team, or even included in the reserve team.

The posts read:

“Now it’s three weeks I am fit to play. I have finished my rehabilitation work. They don’t even want me to play with the second team [under-23s]. Why, I don’t know.

“Still working hard like a Scouse Soldier. Still not talking because I want to speak on the pitch. I will speak soon for the people who support me and do not understand the situation.

“Still happy to live in my “Liverpool Country,” hope to get a chance to play soon and to give my best like I try to do always.

“I accept the situation but I cannot accept the lie. The fans deserve to know the truth! Thanks for your support!

“6 months stayed quiet. Have a good night everybody! You’ll never walk alone.”

The club and Klopp have yet to comment on the matter, but the manager will probably be asked for a reaction before Liverpool’s match against Hull this afternoon.

Fans on social media have been quick to criticise yet another attempt by Sakho to disrupt the squad harmony Klopp is trying to foster at Anfield, as well as ruining his own chances of getting back into the manager’s good books:

One can’t help but get the impression that this is it for Sakho at Liverpool now. Klopp tried to get him to move on loan temporarily in the summer in order to regain fitness – the plans to remove him from the squad in January will surely be a bit more permanent, and more forceful.
