Ryan Giggs Wants Manchester United To Sign Arsenal’s Sanchez

Former Manchester United player and club legend Ryan Giggs wants his former club to try and bring Arsenal star man Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford.

The Chile international is currently under contract with the north London club until the summer of 2018, however, it is believed that he may already have one foot out the door.

Negotiations are set to re-open when the current season comes to a close. But if the player won’t sign a new deal, the club may want to sell him this summer in order to recover some of the reported £31.7 million that Arsenal forked out to sign him from Barcelona back in 2014.

The player has been linked with a number of clubs in relation to a summer move and former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has called on his old club to increase their efforts to sign the highly talented player.

He has stated United could complete a similar move to that of Robin van Persie when Alex Ferguson signed him for Arsenal in 2012. The current situation around Sanchez was not that different to the one faced by Van Persie five years ago.

The Dutch striker proved the missing piece in the jigsaw as United went on to claim the Premier League title that season.

Giggs is hoping that signing Sanchez from Arsenal would have a similar impact. The Chilean’s prolific form in front of goal this season has seen him hit the net 21 times in the Premier League.

“He’s a brilliant player,” Giggs told Premier League Productions (via Sky Sports).

“His work rate, the effect he has on his teammates, a winner.

“Jose Mourinho bought Zlatan Ibrahimovic because he is a winner. He’d won everywhere he’d gone. Not only the effect on the pitch but off the pitch as well.

“You can just feel that Sanchez would give his teammates a lift.

“When we bought Van Persie you’re buying a ready-made superstar and everyone was like ‘Van Persie scores 25 goals a season. What a brilliant buy’. And it gives not only the fans a lift but the players.”
