As has been the case for every other month so far in the League of Ireland, June saw some unbelievable goals find the net.
A combination of long-range efforts and brilliant individual goals make up the list of seven strikes, and Cork City lead the way with three nominations.
Thos goals in question come from Stephen Dooley, Jimmy Keohane and Gearoid Morrissey, the first two of which came from the same match against Limerick, with the latter coming from City’s 2-1 victory against Derry City at Maginn Park.
Patrick McEleney seems to have a goal of the month contender every few weeks, and his effort for June came with a fantastic placed effort against local rivals Dundalk.
Chiedozie Ogbene has been catching the eye at Limerick recently, and his run and finish in the 5-3 win over Bray Wanderers at the beginning of the month played a big hand in the renewed attention being paid to the youngster.
Barry McNamee, meanwhile, has been in flying form for Derry City this season and has played a key role in their hunt for a top three finish. His strike against Cork City also makes the cut. So too does a free-kick from St. Patrick’s Athletic’s Conan Byrne. Byrne is another who regularly scores absolute belters, and this was the case again with his goal against Limerick at Markets Field.

The winners will be chosen by an RTE panel before next Monday, but the decision will not be an easy one.
