Wayne Rooney’s Premier League career looks set to come to a close this weekend.
There have been strong reports that a £12m deal between the parties has been agreed in principle, in a move that would see the Everton forward move to Major League side side DC United in the next transfer window.

The move, should it come to fruition, will bring an end Rooney’s second spell at Goodison Park. Hopes were high for the former England captain’s second coming at Everton when he moved from Manchester United last summer, but despite and initial burst of goals, they have since dried up.
Indeed, Rooney hasn’t found the net for Everton since the middle of December.
Despite the move being agreed in principle, uncertainty surrounding Sam Allardyce’s position as Everton manager means that nothing has been agreed yet. Depending on the outcome of that, the 32-year-old could end up staying where he is for another season at least.
The above reports have suggested that DC United have offered Rooney a deal that would take him up until the end of the 2020 season, to participate in the same league as former Man United teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic and fellow former England international Ashley Cole.
Should Rooney leave, it will bring an end to a glittering career in English football, one that has seen him become the record goalscorer for Manchester United and England and saw him win five Premier League titles and the Champions League.
