Watch: Howlers Aplenty As Liverpool and Roma Score One Each At The Olimpico

Roma came flying out of the traps in their Champions League second leg clash with Liverpool – but undid all of their groundwork in the blink of an eye.

The Serie A side were chasing a three-goal deficit heading into tonight’s clash at the Olimpico, but hope was high of another storming comeback to match the one against Barcelona in the quarter final.

Shots from Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi gave the home side some early impetus, but Liverpool found themselves in front with ten minutes on the clock.

Radja Nainggolan, seen as a key player in the midfield (especially in the absence of Kevin Strootman), gave the ball away sloppily in the midfield with Roberto Firmino on hand to capitalise. The Brazilian ghosted through the Roma defence to play a through ball to Sadio Mane. The Senegalese forward made no mistake by slotting past Alisson Becker.

Roma hit back five minutes later, albeit with a big slice of luck. Dejan Lovren’s attempted clearance struck James Milner and found its way past Loris Karius in the Liverpool goal.

That goal brought Roma back to square one, needing three goals in order to rescue their dream of reaching the final.
