Just in case there was any doubt, here is confirmation that Robbie Keane Will never lose that goal poacher’s instinct…
Keane lined out for a Manchester United All Star selection in Bulgaria last night alongside former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Dimitar Berbatov.
Of course, United were not one of the ten clubs that Keane played for throughout his seasoned career. However, Berbatov was left short on numbers for his line-up and called on his ex-strike partner to help him out.
David James and Martin Petrov were also on hand to fill voids in Berba’s All stars, while the likes of Gary Neville and his brother Phil, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Paul Scholes all turned out for the exhibition. The United All Stars took on a Luis Figo led All Star team which included Roberto Carlos, Robert Pires and Deco. All proceeds raised for the game fittingly went to a good charity cause.
The game finished 3-3, and Robbie would have been certain to have bagged a hat-trick had it not been for Carlos Machena heading into his own net before the Dublin native could get on the end of a fine move.
There were clear signs that the former deadly Spurs duo have lost none of their on-field chemistry, with the Bulgarian star assisting Keano’s first. The vision of Berbatov and timing of Keane’s run allowing with being typically in the right place at the right time will have every Spurs fan smiling in reminiscence. What a lethal partnership this pair were in the Premier League.
With Keano still on the lookout for a new club, having not officially hung up his boots just yet, these clips would make you wonder, could he still do a job at the highest level?
