Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill has named his side to take on Moldova in what is the first of two do or die games for the Boys in Green.

As expected, in goal is Darren Randolph behind a defensive line of Cyrus Christie, Stephen Ward, Ciaran Clark and Shane Duffy while in midfield it is likely to be Callum O’Dowda, David Meyler, who captains the team, Jeff Hendrick and Wes Hoolahan with Daryl Murphy and Shane Long up front.

Given the number of suspensions and injuries, this is not the most surprising of starting XIs, although it does give us a little glimpse into the future with the likes of O’Dowda, who is still inexperienced at this level, starting while the likes of Sean Maguire and Scott Hogan are also available from the bench.

Ireland take on Moldova at 7:45pm in what will be the first of two major clashes this week.
