Preston North End have confirmed a deal to sign Cork City striker Sean Maguire.
Maguire will join up with the club at the end of July, linking up with former Dundalk stars Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan at Deepdale.

The 23-year-old scored a hat-trick at Oriel Park on Friday as Cork City saw off the challenge of defending Premier Division champions Dundalk, in a 3-0 win that sent John Caulfied’s side 18 points clear in the table. His sixteen goals this season have been vital in the run that has seen City take several massive steps towards securing a first Premier Division title in over a decade
Rumours had begun to circulate this week that Maguire would be leaving Turner’s Cross during the midseason break to join the rest of Simon Grayson’s League of Ireland collective at Preston on a three-year deal, and it has since been confirmed that while he will still be at the club once that break is over, it won’t be for much longer.

However, while this is certainly a massive loss to Caulfield and City, he will be available to City for the next seven or eight weeks or so, meaning he will still have a massive role to play in the club’s title charge and Europa League qualifiers before joining the Championship side for pre-season in late July/early August.
