Liverpool and Southampton have come to an agreement over the transfer of Virgil van Dijk.
The centre-back will join Liverpool after the two clubs agreed on a £75 million transfer following recent discrete negotiations according to The Telegraph.
The transfer has been highly touted for some time and it looks like Liverpool have finally gotten their man after the disastrous breakdown of the deal in last summer where the club were forced to publicly apologise for illegitimately approaching the player.
While Chelsea and league leaders Manchester City are reportedly still keen on signing Van Dijk, it will take a massive bid to lure him from Anfield. Van Dijk has made it clear that his preference is to join the Reds and work under Jurgen Klopp.
Personal terms are yet to be agreed but it is believed that a deal worth £180,000-per-week is set to signed and delivered when the January transfer window officially opens on Monday.
The £75 million price tag will make van Dijk the most expensive defender in world football.
