Report: Barcelona To Make Yet Another Massive Bid For Philippe Coutinho

Despite their advances being rejected on three previous occasions, Barcelona are doggedly preparing yet another massive bid for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

After their most recent bid was slid back across the negotiating table, it seemed that Barcelona’s interest in the 25-year-old had come to an end. Various reports claimed that the Catalan giants, whose coffers are well-stocked following the departure of Neymar, would instead pursue Jean-Michael Seri, Ousmane Dembele, Angel di Maria or Christian Eriksen.

Meanwhile, Ed Maylon of The Independent reported that the 25-year-old Coutinho, who handed in a transfer request at Anfield earlier this month, had come to the realization that he would be staying put and hoped to schedule a meeting with Liverpool brass in order to clear the air.

However, the winding saga is set to continue.

According to a report from Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, Barcelona’s latest bid for the Brazilian international is expected to be worth a total of £138 million. That sum is comprised of a £101 million up-front fee and £37 million “in add-ons linked to Champions League appearances.”

The bid trumps the Catalan outfit’s previous offer by some £19 million in total.

According to a Sky Sports source in Spain, Coutinho, who is currently nursing a back injury, is now more determined to leave Merseyside than ever before.

Liverpool, however, have looked immovable on the issue so far.
