Another day, another trusted voice reports Paul Pogba could well go to Manchester United.
In the last few weeks, it was Gianluca Di Marzio and Mark Ogden that broke the news that the French starlet’s sensational return was on the cards. This morning, the Manchester Evening News has chimed in.
One of their lead writers, Samuel Luckhurst, who has an excellent record on exclusives, reports:
“Jose Mourinho vetoed signing Miralem Pjanic in order to focus on…Paul Pogba.
“Mourinho was keen on buying Pjanic from Roma but decided against signing the 26-year-old, whose move to Juve this week could work to United’s advantage as the club prioritises re-signing Pogba.”
“Mourinho has earmarked Pogba, 22, as the ‘captain’ midfielder to strengthen the team’s spine, having already reinforced it with the addition of £30million centre-back Eric Bailly.”
There was also reports this week that Real Madrid appeared to be out of the race for Pogba’s signature as they were not willing to spend more than the world record fee they coughed up for Gareth Bale.
Paul Pogba is undoubtedly football’s hottest property and with Madrid out of the running, if the midfielder does leave Turin, he’ll almost certainly be Manchester bound. However, there is still a very long way to go in this one.
