Football pundit Rodney Marsh is known as a bit of a loudmouth and yesterday, he certainly lived up to his reputation.
Speaking on American radio station SiriusXM FC, the former Man City striker announced that Real Madrid have finally accepted a bid for striker Karim Benzema. The club behind said bid? Arsenal of course.
However, already second guessing himself, Marsh danced around his earth shattering claim by pointing out that personal terms have not yet been agreed so the deal is not exactly guaranteed quite yet.
Marsh didn’t go into detail with regard to how exactly he came across the most highly coveted information in the footballing world at the moment so, we’ll just have to wait and see if he was simply trying to create headlines or if he in fact has a reliable source.
Arsenal were viewed as genuine Premier League title contenders before the season kicked off. However, a poor opening encounter with West Ham highlighted their need for reinforcement up front and, despite a cracking finish from Olivier Giroud in their victory over Palace last weekend, most Arsenal fans believe the Benzema signing is a must.
According to Marsh, there is more to follow… we can’t wait, Rodney.
