Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was inches away from scoring a belter against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
Romelu Lukaku, first-half strike was enough to give Jose Mourinho’s side all three points – a goal that will be a massive source of relief both for the Belgian and to Man United themselves in the 1-0 victory.
However, the match was nearly made even more comfortable for Man United deep into the second half, as Marcus Rashford nearly added his name to the scoresheet in spectacular fashion.
With just shy of twenty minutes remaining, the England international picked the ball up outside the visitors’ box at an angle, before unleashing a rasping, dipping drive that seemed to get faster as it travelled in the air before cannoning back off the woodwork:

The 20-year-old scored Man United’s only goal in the Manchester derby last weekend, and would have equalled his five-goal Premier League total from last season (and the season before) had that strike gone in. With Rashford facing stiff competition from Anthony Martial for that left-wing role, his finishing had to improve this year – especially given how prolific his French rival can be in front of goal.
