Manchester United broke the deadlock early against Liverpool at Old Trafford via a brilliant finish from Marcus Rashford.
The visitors had had enjoyed the majority of possession in the opening stages, but could do nothing with it as Man United maintained their shape doggedly.
In the end the goal came about from some old-school route one – David De Gea’s goal kick flicked on by Romelu Lukaku (beating Dejan Lovren to the punch), Rashford cutting inside Trent Alexander-Arnold before curling a beautiful finish past Loris Karius in the Liverpool goal.
One became two just before the half-hour mark, courtesy once again of Rashford, and once again came on the break. Virgil van Dijk should have scored at one end, and just seconds later the ball was falling to Rashford again to double Man United’s lead.
Just to highlight the task that Liverpool now face, Man United are the only team in the Prmeier League this season to maintain a 100% record having gone ahead:

Jurgen Klopp’s side now have it all to do, with the score still at 2-0 at the time of writing and Mourinho’s game plan working perfectly.
