Rafa Benitez Finally Speaks Out On The Sergio Ramos To Man Utd Move

It’s been one of the longest running sagas of the summer but it seems that Rafa Benitez may have finally put it to bed. 

It’s no secret that Manchester United are in desperate need of a world class centre back. However, of the names they have been linked with, Sergio Ramos always seemed just a little bit ridiculous.

The Spanish central defender is a Madrista to the core and despite murmurs of ongoing contractual disputes at the Bernabeu, one could never really see him actually packing his bags.

Today, Rafa Benitez sat down with the Spanish press and was quickly quizzed about the future of his World Cup winning defender.

This is what he said:

There is a lot of talk about his [Ramos’] situation. For me he is an enormous professional. He applies himself and does everything that the team and I ask.  

The president has already commented that he is staying with the club.

I have spoken to him at length in the summer about his ideas and his future. I see Sergio as an integral part of our team. He is a winner and that is what we need in our team.

So that’s that. It never will happen and really, it was never going to happen. As Louis said yesterday, the press often invent a ‘truth’ that is, in reality, rubbish.
