Seán Maguire emphatically put months of injury frustrations behind him this afternoon, as he bagged a brace against Bolton to claim all three points for Preston.
The former Cork City man showed that a lack of game-time was no issue as he found the net twice from close range to keep up the promotion chase with Alex Neil’s side.
He brought his goalscoring form from Turner’s Cross to the Championship club, and won fans over immediately. The plaudits came thick and fast after his return today.
AN on Maguire: “It’s fantastic. After fours months out I don’t think he could have dreamed for his return to be like that. He has played 45 minutes of football before today and he goes and delivers that, that tells you all you need to know about him.” #pnefc

AN on Maguire: “He has scored six goals for us this season now and our top scorer has scored eight, that shows that a key player he is for us given that he’s been out for so long.” #pnefc

Of course, there’s the bigger question from an Irish perspective with the Turkey friendly this month.
@FAIreland Martin better have this lad on the plane to Turkey ??

On this form, Martin O’Neill surely won’t ignore the Kilkenny native.
