After winning the player of the season award with Preston last season, fans of the club had hoped that Ireland’s Aiden McGeady would be seen at Deepdale once again come August…
Having arrived at Preston on loan from Everton, it had always been suggested that it would be difficult for the Championship side to hang on to their star man.
However, it seems that McGeady’s exit will sting more than any Preston fan could have anticipated with the Irish international now set to remain in the championship, but follow his former manager to the Stadium of Light.

Telegraph reporting that McGeady is likely to be Grayson's first Sunderland signing #PNEFC

Having taken charge at Preston North End in 2013, Grayson secured promotion for the club from League One to the Championship before two 11th-place finishes in the second tier.
Poached by the relegated Sunderland, Grayson’s task will now be to take the Black Cats straight back to the top flight and the 47-year-old has apparently earmarked McGeady as his top priority to assist him to get the job done.
If SG goes to Sunderland can see McGeady following…….? #pnefc

McGeady banged 8 goals with Preston last season while also notching an impressive nine assists and if you haven’t already seen the club’s homage to the Irishman’s season, it is truly a must see…
