The Premier League Player Of The Month For September Has Been Named

Son Heung-min Tottenham Premier League Player of the Month

The Premier League rounded off its list of awards this morning by handing out Player of the Month for September.

In a shortlist of five, namely Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, Tottenham’s Son-Heung-min, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City, Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, and Romelu Lukaku of Everton, the Spurs forward has been the successful recipient.

Having looked to be on the way out of White Hart Lane at one point over the summer, the South Korean international has been in glowing form of late. Indeed, Son looks to have firmly settled at the club following a £22m transfer from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

Having played his first game of the season in the middle of last month, the 24-year-old has not looked back, scoring four goals and keeping Tottenham in among the goals even in the absence of star striker Harry Kane.

According to the Premier League website, Son is the first Asian recipient of the award, a fact which even he himself is surprised by:

“Many players deserved it. Ji Sung-Park had great seasons.

“I can’t believe I’m the first player from Asia [to win it]. I’m very thankful for the support. They support every day, every weekend, every game.

“This is my dream, to get the award,

“I want to get it a second time, a third time. When I take the award home my family will be crazy like you can’t believe; they will be really happy.”

Tottenham are the only unbeaten team remaining in the Premier League this season, a record they will be desperate to maintain when they travel to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
