Potential Blow For Manchester United As Lukaku Injury News Emerges

Manchester United’s sensational summer signing Romelu Lukaku is reportedly dealing with an ankle injury ahead of Belgium’s World Cup qualifier with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday.

According to Sky Sports, the in-form striker picked up the injury at weekend against Crystal Palace, a game that saw him bag his seventh Premier League goal of the season and 11th since joining United in July.

News of the injury will send tremors through the Old Trafford fan base as the big Belgian has been one of the standout players of the current campaign.

Currently level on points with table-topping Manchester City, United appear to have found the kind of form that became synonymous under Sir Alex Ferguson and fans were beginning to believe that after a five-year drought, the Premier League trophy was once again within reach.

Lukaku has reportedly been assessed by the Belgian squad’s medical team and at this time have not ruled the striker out of either the clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina or Tuesday’s clash with Cyprus.

“Romelu Lukaku underwent an MRI scan but no fracture or structural damage has been diagnosed.

“The next days he will follow an individual training program. It is however too early to state that he won’t be match fit for the Bosnia and/or Cyprus game.”

Already confirmed as Group H winners and assured of their place at the 2018 championships in Russia, United fans will be hoping that their star striker is afforded some time to recover from his injury in time for the Premier League crunch clash with Liverpool on October 14th.
