On Monday night, Irish fans went wild after James McClean rattled the back of the Welsh net and sent Ireland into the World Cup playoffs.
Heading into their final two group fixtures, Martin O’Neill’s men knew that they needed to win both games in order to keep their World Cup dreams alive. However, given their form in 2017 prior to the latest international break, very few gave them a chance of achieving what they had set to.
A week later and the Irish are floating on cloud nine as they anxiously await next Tuesday’s draw which will reveal who the Green Army will face in their do or die two-leg playoff.
The draw will take place at Fifa’s headquarters in Zurich with the names set to be pulled at 1pm Irish time. For the Boys in Green, their potential opponents are clear – Croatia, Denmark, Italy or Switzerland.
However, in terms of who would be the best and worse case scenario for the Irish, things are a little bit more muddled with countless pundits explaining how each of the potential opponents could be a nightmare for Martin O’Neill’s men.
With this in mind, we thought we’d put the question to the Pundit Arena readers: who would you like to see Ireland draw in the World Cup playoffs?
