Players, Fans And Danes React To Ireland’s World Cup Playoff Draw

Ireland now know exactly what it will it take to book a place in next year’s World Cup in Russia.

As a result of Tuesday’s playoff draw in Switzerland, Martin O’Neill’s side will face off against Denmark as they look to qualify for the finals for the first time since 20002.

Standing in their way will be a resolute Danish side, with Tottenham star Christian Eriksen in tow, as they themselves aim to qualify having missed out in Brazil in 2014.

While, as the seeded team, Denmark will be the favourites, they were arguably just a Northern Ireland win in Norway away from being unseeded themselves. As such, and with the second leg taking place at the Aviva, Ireland fans will be optimistic to the point of confident that they will be in Russia next year.
