Peter Hutton Leaves Derry City

Derry City have tonight announced that manager Peter Hutton has left the club by ‘mutual consent’ following the Candystripes FAI Cup quarter-final replay defeat to Cork City on Monday night.

Hutton, Derry City’s longest serving player, having made over 600 appearances last season lead his side to the FAI Cup Final. However, an exit from the competition on Monday, coupled with a poor league campaign, which currently sees Derry sitting in 10th, just a place and a point above the relegation play-off spot, and three points clear of bottom of the table Limerick.

Paul Hegarty, who was Hutton’s assistant manager will not take over as caretaker manager for the remainder of the season as Derry look to keep their Premier Division status intact.
