As the weeks tick on, Manchester United fans are wondering with an increasing sense of bafflement, how Marouane Fellaini remains in their starting XI.
Yesterday, Louis van Gaal elected to pick the same side that had drawn in an electrifying 3-3 draw at St James’ Park earlier in the week for their must-win clash against Liverpool.
That side featured Marouane Fellaini starting in a holding role in central midfield alongside former Southampton star, Morgan Schneiderlin.
If Fellaini starts today, I think we should just give up already because playing with 10 men isn’t easy to win matches, Louis van Gaal.

Although United managed to leave Anfield with three points in the bag, most commentators suggested that Liverpool were by far the better side on the day and ever since, United’s victory has been referred to as a ‘smash-and-grab’.
At 6ft 4, Fellaini doesn’t win headers, he can’t make a forward pass and he worries me every time the ball is anywhere near him. Lampshade

For fans of the Old Trafford club, it seems the general consensus is that the source of a lot of their stuttered performances comes from the central midfield and the ineffective Belgian. Yesterday, although the former Everton man made a telling contribution in the moment that led to Rooney’s goal, again United fans wondered how he was even on the pitch to begin with.
Although fans can often be very wrong in their estimations of what impact a player may or may not be having on the pitch, it seems in Fellaini’s case, United fans are bang on point. Prior to the game at Anfield yesterday, some shocking numbers were released online showing just how much better United are without Fellaini in their side than with him.
Check out the extraordinary numbers in the Tweets below;
Manchester United in the PL With Fellaini : P 11 W 2 D 4 L 5 Win% 18 Without Fellaini : P 10 W 7 D 3 L 0 Win% 70 + Unbeaten
