Paddy Power have slashed the odds of Everton signing Manchester United ace Juan Mata.
The bookmaker have made Ronald Koeman’s side 2/5 favourites to sign the Spaniard with Jose Mourinho unlikely to keep the midfielder after falling out with Mata whilst at Chelsea.
Mourinho has added to his attacking options by signing Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a deal that broke the German club’s transfer record for selling players, so Mata will be surplus to requirements should he stay at Old Trafford.
The club have also been chasing Zenit and Belgium star Axel Witsel and had been interested in Graziano Pelle before his move to China after Farhad Moshiri’s takeover of the club.
The Daily Record have also reported that Mata has joined Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind on the transfer list.
Manchester United are said to be looking to recoup at least £20m from the £37.1m they paid Chelsea for Mata in what would be an excellent signing for Everton as they look to recover from a dreadful campaign in 2015/16.
Ronald Koeman’s outfit have also been linked with Morgan Schneiderlin, but with Paul Pogba struggling to adapt to a deeper role for France, the Juventus midfielder would be utilised further upfield should he sign.
Therefore Schneiderlin’s exit from Old Trafford is quite unlikely, but Mata could well join the Toffees before the beginning of the season.
Would Juan Mata enjoy a career renaissance at Everton?
