Odds Slashed On Sergio Aguero Making An Outrageous Move To Arsenal

Manchester City FC v FC Bayern Muenchen - UEFA Champions League

On Friday morning, a frankly ridiculous rumour started to do the rounds claiming that Sergio Aguero could be set to make the move from Manchester City to Arsenal.

The story originated in the highly unreliable Spanish publication Don Balon and seems to be based on two facts that added together, really mean nothing.

First of all, Guardiola has recently omitted Aguero from his starting line up when the striker has been fully fit and, some now suggest that the relationship between the pair is now far from ideal.

Secondly, Arsenal are forever linked with a move for a ‘world class’ striker and, given the fact that Aguero’s position at the Etihad now has a hint of a question mark over it… hey presto, you’ve got a transfer story – ‘Sergio Aguero is off to Arsenal’.

To be clear, unless the Manchester City board have completely lost their marbles, there is no way in hell that they will sell the best striker in the Premier League to a side that are quite clearly title rivals.

However, putting logic and common sense aside, several publications have decided to pick up the ‘Aguero to Arsenal’ ball and run with it to such an extent that bookies have already reacted.

The 28-year-old was 16/1 to join the Gunners 24 hours ago. On Friday afternoon, those odds have rocketed down to 6/1 with a Ladbrokes spokesperson claiming that Arsenal are now determined to land the Argentine.

“Arsenal are gunning for the Argentine ace, and the bookies reckon Aguero could leave City fans seeing red by heading to a Premier League rival.”

For the record Aguero has scored 11 goals in 12 games for Manchester City this season. He’s going absolutely no where.
