Manchester United’s clash with West Ham on Thursday turned into something of a damp squib.
With both sides having little to play for, the match came across as a nuisance to be dealt with as the season nears its conclusion. Predictable, it finished 0-0 with little in the way of goalmouth action.
However, the game did briefly spark into life late on when West Ham captain Mark Noble became embroiled in a tussle with Man United’s Paul Pogba. Reacting badly to a challenge by the Frenchman, Noble squared up to Pogba and proceeded to grab him by the face – not that Pogba seemed wholly troubled by Noble’s attempt to start a skirmish.

The pair received yellow cards for their respective parts in the incident, but should Noble’s punishment have been harsher?
Mark Noble is the ultimate part-time hard man. Lucky not to have been sent off for his cat-fight reaction.

All was forgotten at the end, however, as Noble and Pogba hugged it out on the pitch at the final whistle.
In any event, it provided a rare moment excitement in what was a typical end-of-season drab encounter between two sites that will be secure in their positions when the season ends on Sunday
I’ve only just finished the West Ham v United game because I had to rewind the Pogba-Noble clash so many times. One of the best moments of the season ?
