Leicester’s N’Golo Kante will be joining Chelsea for £30m in a five-year deal, according to Express.
The Frenchman joined the Foxes from Caen for £5.6m last summer and stunned fans and critics alike with his outstanding performances, which earned him a place in France’s Euro 2016 side.
Ultimately, suspension saw Kante lose out on his place in his national team’s starting eleven to Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko but has impressed Antonio Conte enough to make the midfielder his second summer signing after Michy Batshuayi.
The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the King Power and Express claim that the Frenchman’s arrival at Stamford Bridge is hours away from being announced.
They claim that Chelsea have had a £30m offer accepted by Leicester and he will undergo a medical within the next 48 hours.
Claudio Ranieri had revealed earlier that he would not stand in Kante’s way if he wanted to leave the club.
Ranieri said: “We offered a new contract to him, he went away because he wanted to finish Euro 2016, and now there is so much speculation around him.
“I don’t want to lose him but I can understand if he wants to go.
Leicester signed Nampalys Mendy from Nice in preparation for Kante’s departure so it will come as no great shock to those at the club to see the 25-year-old exit after just one season.
Chelsea suffered immense problems in the middle of the park last season with Cesc Fabregas struggling for consistency alongside Nemanja Matic, who has been linked with moves to both Juventus and Manchester United.
However, after missing out on Radja Nainggolan, Axel Witsel and Andre Gomes, it seems Chelsea have finally recruited a player willing to run into the ground and bring fresh energy to their midfield.
The news comes as a blow to Arsenal, who had been tracking Kante.
Express cited Radio Monte Carlo as their source.
