Transfer deadline day has become something of a mass frenzy in recent years, and Sky Sports are doing their best to ensure that the January 2016 edition is no different.
As of this morning, the main story appears to centre around West Brom’s Saido Berahino with Newcastle United and Stoke City set to do battle for the wantaway striker.
Newcastle are desperately trying to spend their way out of trouble this January (already racking up more than the entire Bundesliga combined in transfer fees) – and a £21 million plus bid for Berahino shows the club are quite prepared to shatter their transfer record today for the right player.

Stoke, meanwhile, are looking to bolster their options as they push for a European spot, and have apparently matched Newcastle’s earlier bid.
Sources tell me Stoke have bid in excess of £21m for Saido Berahino

West Brom, though, seem to be holding tough for now and refusing to sell, which in most circumstances would be an admirable stance but seemingly the only person in the known universe who wants Berahino to remain at the Hawthorns is West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace, as neither the player himself or manager, Tony Pulis, seem overly enamoured with the idea of keeping him at the club.
With the clock ticking it’s still up in the air as to which club Berahino will be at this time tomorrow morning – and that’s not even considering the possibility that Tottenham might belatedly renew their interest from the summer.
The window slams shut, accompanied by the obligatory shot of Big Ben chiming, at 11pm tonight.
