Jose Mourinho Responds To The Latest ‘Cristiano Ronaldo To Man United’ Rumours

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has commented on the latest reports linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to Old Trafford.

Speculation of a Ronaldo comeback has been rife for several years now, and is heightened every so often to the point where either the Man United or Real Madrid manager at the time feels the need to respond to it.

Thursday afternoon was one of those times and, speaking to the media ahead of his side’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Yeovil Town on Friday night, Mourinho distanced Man United from a move move for the Real forward.

“I am the last one to add some fuel to the fire. Real Madrid is on fire. Results are not good.

“But it’s a club where I worked for three years and I care about the club. I think I should be the last one to add some fuel to the fire.

“To put some water on the fire, I would say Cristiano is the kind of player that every manager wants, every club wants, but only one manager can have and only one club can have – Zidane and Real Madrid. That’s my feeling.”

Ronaldo appeared destined to leave the Bernabeu last summer when it was reported that he was demanding to leave. Although those rumours have died down, a poor season both on a personal level and with Real Madrid’s poor form as a whole have once again given rise to speculation that he may be looking to leave Madrid in the summer.

One player who will be lining out for Man United this weekend, however, is Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean forward completed a move to Old Trafford this week, and Mourinho confirmed that he is in the squad to face Yeovil, with all logical thinking suggesting that he will almost certainly play some part in the fixture.
