Morgan Schneiderlin Finally Set To End Manchester United Nightmare As Everton Medical Confirmed

Manchester United manager José Mourinho appears ready to finally jettison another Louis van Gaal signing as news is emerging that Morgan Schneiderlin has arrived at Everton’s Finch Farm training facility to undergo a medical ahead of a long touted move.

Since arriving at Old Trafford in a £27 million move back in the summer of 2015, it was expected that the France international would succeed the ageing Michael Carrick in the heart of the United midfield.

Alas, things simply did not pan out for the 27-year-old and since the replacement of Van Gaal with Mourinho, Schneiderlin has barely had a look in this season.

Having been given the green light to be sold, Everton became the firm favourites to sign the former Southampton player as manager Ronald Koeman previously managed him while at the seaside club and is a known fan of the midfielder.

Reported on Twitter by Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst, Schneiderlin will undergo a medical today, despite there still being no agreement on a transfer fee at this time.

United were rumoured to be demanding in the region of £24 million and have already rejected an offer of some £18 million from West Bromwich Albion.

With the medical pending it must now be assumed that United and Everton are close to an agreement and, according to Luckhurst, Schneiderlin could well line out for the Toffees at the weekend to face United’s cross-city rivals Manchester City.

How ironic would be if the Frenchman could help his new side overcome Pep Guardiola’s floundering side and in doing so aid the title chances of the side where he spent a frustrating 18 months?

Football really is a funny old game.
