Moldova V Ireland: Confirmed Lineup, Hoolahan Starts

The Republic of Ireland continue their World Cup qualification campaign with a trip to Moldova, their first ever game against tonight’s opponents.

Nothing less than three points will be accepted as Ireland look to keep up the pace in what is sure to be a tight contest with Wales, Austria and Serbia for the top two spots.

For tonight’s game, two changes have been forced upon manager Martin O’Neill – Robbie Brady suffered a concussion in the win against Georgia on Thursday, while Jeff Hendrick’s yellow card in that game rules him out through suspension.

In their absence, Glenn Whelan and Wes Hoolahan come into the team in an otherwise unchanged lineup to that which ground out the result in Dublin on Thursday. As expected, Shane Duffy and Ciaran Clark keep their places in the centre of defence.

Moldova have suffered two defeats in their opening games and, as such, are approaching this game more in hope than expectation. Having already lost 4-0 and 3-0 to Wales and Serbia respectively, they will be looking to keep the score down for as long as possible and snatch a point if they can.
