Liverpool will host a struggling Arsenal side this afternoon in what is the highlight of this weekend’s Premier League action.
It’s been an excellent few days for the Merseyside club after they picked up their first win of the new season before securing their passage to the Champions League group stages with a comfortable aggregate victory over Hoffenheim.
In Thursday’s draw for the first round of Europe’s premier club competition, they were handed a quite favourable group. While they could have met Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, the Reds will only have to negotiate their way past Sevilla and Spartak Moscow.
If they could collect the maximum points against Arsene Wenger’s side later today, it would cap off a very fine week for Sadio Mane and co.
It’s a massively important game for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp has taken a major decision as he looks to ensure his side keep pace with the early leaders.
According to multiple reports, the German has surprisingly dropped goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in favour of Loris Karius.

Klopp remarked before the season started that Mignolet was his first choice between the sticks but seems to have changed his mind after just a handful of games.
Karius didn’t enjoy the most fruitful of debut seasons at Anfield in 2016/17 having made the move to Merseyside from Mainz but he’ll be hoping he can prove this season that he is capable of becoming Liverpool’s number one.
Club legend Jamie Carragher has reacted to the news on Sky Sports and has described it as a “bizarre” decision.
