Finn Harps’ Paddy McCourt provided a moment of magic in his side’s Premier Divison clash with Sligo Rovers on Saturday night.
With the home side 1-0 down thanks to Vinny Faherty’s opener, the former Celtic midfielder gave fans a timely reminder of his outstanding technical ability to waltz through the Slgo Rovers defence with less than ten minutes remaining to slot past Micheál Schlingermann and put Finn Harps back on level terms with what will surely be a contender for goal of the season.

Paddy McCourt goal of the season hands down

Unfortunately for McCourt his goal did not give Harps a share of the points. Rhys McCabe, already enjoying hero status following his winner against Cork City at Turner’s Cross last month, struck late on to give Gerard Lyttle’s side all three precious points, which saw them climb out of the relegation zone (at Harps’ expense).
The 33-year-old’s contribution over the next few games will be vital if Ollie Horgan’s men are to escape the drop to the First Divison.
