Corriere dello Sport reported this morning that Arsenal officials were set to meet with Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara, in London later in the day to negotiate a potential move.
Now, it has been confirmed that the Inter Milan striker’s agent is indeed in London after she posted a tweet revealing her location.
Reports suggested that Arsenal were set to offer Icardi a contract worth £100k per week. The Gunners seem to have turned their attention to Icardi following Napoli’s refusal to let Higuain go for any amount below his hefty €94 million release clause.
This claim has been backed up by reliable Italian journalists like Gianluca Di Marzio, with Sky Italy also reporting last week that Arsenal were seriously considering a move for the Argentine forward who is one of the few remaining options in the transfer market in his position.
Wanda Nara’s main aim is to raise her client’s wages so, whether she is actually interested in a move or is simply looking to pressure Inter into offering Icardi a better deal is yet to be seen. Inter Milan will be playing in the Europa League next season, so the prospect of Champions League football could be a big factor.
Inter are very reluctant to sell the 23-year-old, so Arsenal’s aim will now be to convince him and his agent to push for a move, and maybe even hand in a transfer request, forcing the Serie A club to consider offers. Many sources have indicated that Inter value their striker at €50 million.
