Sligo Rovers welcome Finn Harps to the Showgrounds tomorrow night in what is the Bit O’ Red’s penultimate pre-season friendly this season.
Rovers will be hoping to maintain their 100% pre-season record, which has already seen the Bit O’ Red beat Waterford United, Shelbourne, Castlebar Celtic and local junior side Ballisodare United.
Heary has a near fully fit squad to pick from with Jeff Henderson the only player missing out. Henderson joined first team training this week, however this game comes too early for him.
Speaking with the Bit O’ Red’s official website ahead of the game this Friday, manager Owen Heary said,
“Winning is a good habit so it’s good to be winning games. It was good to see on Tuesday that even after we conceded first we came back and won. It showed that the players have the right mentality and confidence to be able to come from behind.”
Rovers so far this pre-season have scored 20 goals but Owen Heary will be expecting a tougher game against Finn Harps. Speaking about the challenge posed by Harps, Heary said,
“It will be tougher, more like the games against Waterford and Shelbourne. We are expecting a physical game.
“The players need to get used to it because when the season starts and we play teams like Cork, they will have to be ready for that. It is also a local derby so we know that they will come here and look to give us a good game and play with aggression.”
Finn Harps will be without the injured duo of Marc Brolly and Packie Mailey. New loan signing Ruairi Keating also misses out as he’s currently away with the Ireland U-21s. Harps are also awaiting international Clearance for Wilifried Tagho but Regan Donelon is able to take some part in the game.
Kick-off in the Showgrounds is at 19;30.
