Manchester United and Paul Pogba are the headline acts to our Friday night football as the Red Devils face off against Southampton tonight in the Premier League.
Paul Pogba is expected to make his debut in the heart of midfield, whilst Morgan Schneiderlin is also pushing for a start following a mixed debut season at Old Trafford.
Elsewhere, Antonio Valencia is expected to retain his place in the side following an impressive display in the 3-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.
Juan Mata could well be dropped in favour of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, one of the fancied signings of the summer from Borussia Dortmund.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also expected to lead the line after a stunning finish to kill the game against the Cherries.
We expect Jose Mourinho to stay true to his favourite formation in the form of the 4-2-3-1 – the same tactical set-up that Pogba did not enjoy for France at the European Championships this summer.
On the bench, one of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera will have to find among the substitutes to accommodate Pogba into the side.
Alternatively, if Schneiderlin joins Pogba in the United midfield both players will have to contend with subdued roles from the sidelines.
Of course, United have such a variation of options across all positions now that Mourinho can opt for a number of different line-ups and still remain optimistic of winning.
Chris Smalling’s reintroduction to the team means that Daley Blind is likely to miss out.
Morgan Schneiderlin also features in our team in midfield alongside Pogba. The Frenchman will be utilised with a much more defensive purpose in mind compared to his compatriot, whose function will be to link midfield to the Red Devils attacking trio of Martial, Rooney and Mkhitaryan.
The full-backs will also be looking to get forward to support attacks as often as possible, leaving Schneiderlin to drop back in front of Smalling and Bailly when necessary.
We will only know for sure come 7pm, with Mourinho sure to have some tricks up his sleeve.
