Manchester United Target World’s Most Expensive Teenager

Manchester United are rumoured to be one of the busier clubs this January as far as transfer activity is concerned. Louis Van Gaal has survived as manager following a hectic Christmas period, and now looks to bolster his squad this month as they make a push for the Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup.

While goalscoring has been the issue, they are certainly looking to strengthen their attack, and LVG began this by recalling James Wilson from his loan move to Brighton.

However, today the Manchester Evening News are reporting that the Red Devils are hot on the heels of highly rated centre-back Marquinhos.

The 21 year-old Brazilian was bought by Paris Saint Germain in 2013 for €31.5 million from Roma, making him the world’s most expensive teenager. However, despite being capped nine times for Brazil, he has failed to break into the PSG side, and remains behind countrymen David Luiz and Thiago Silva in the pecking order.

The young centre-half has been growing frustrated with life on the bench, and is keen to see first team action in order to fulfill his world class potential.

“Like everyone else, I always want to be a part of the starting line-up.

“But we all must respect the choices of the coach and management.

“I will continue to work to get my place. But it’s true there comes a moment where I am older, you cannot always get used to the bench.

“There are six months to win titles. After, we’ll see what happens.”

While defence has not been a major issue for United so far this season, this signing would ensure that a top class defender will be at Old Trafford for many years to come, a talent United have not had since Nemanja Vidic.
