Manchester United Target Griezmann In No Doubt Where His Future Lies

Manchester United

Reports earlier this month, via the Daily Star, suggested that France international Antoine Griezmann could be Manchester United’s next major investment but comments emerging on Tuesday from the man himself have cast doubt over these rumours.

Talksport contributor Pilib de Brun claimed the Old Trafford outfit are ‘very confident’ of getting their man and will trigger his £83.5 million release clause at Atletico Madrid this coming summer.

The word from the horse’s mouth, however, contradicts much of De Brun’s assertions:

“I’m feeling good at Atletico Madrid. Frankly, I don’t see myself leaving,” the 25-year-old told France Football (via the Manchester Evening News).

“People often talk about England, but I’m here.

“And then, going from Atletico to Real, it must be difficult. I do not necessarily want to try. I don’t think about it.”

Whether Griezmann is truly willing to stay loyal to the side from the Spanish capital remains to be seen though, with plenty of interest emanating from elsewhere.

It is not surprising either when one considers the French frontman netted 32 goals in all competitions for Atletico last term and already has nine to his name this season as well as six assists.

The short-term future of the former Real Sociedad man remains somewhat up in the air, however his end goal is a pretty definitive, and surprising, one:

“The United States is where I want to finish. I love the States.

“I want to have a subscription to NBA and go with my children to every game. I can already see myself there.

“I do not yet know the city but why not play for Beckham’s franchise in Miami? Playing under Beckham would be the best.”
