Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are battling it out for the signature of Palmero star Franco Vazquez.
The midfielder is contracted with the Serie A club until 2019, but according to The Sunday World, the 27 year-old is set to leave the side.
Despite an impressive season, Vazquez was not included in Antonio Conte’s Italy squad for Euro 2016, but nonetheless is on the radar of some of England’s biggest sides.
Vazquez has scored 22 times for the Italian club in 105 appearances, and is a driving force in the midfield; something which Manchester United José Mourinho manager is clearly looking for.
According to the reports, Louis Van Gaal was interested in signing Vazquez last year, but the Red Devils may struggle to capture his signature. As he is an established player, he will be after immediate success, and to that end Spurs’ Champions League place may be a valuable attraction.
Up to this point however, there have been very few reports, and we are not buying into the story completely just yet.
With the likely departure of Juan Mata from Manchester United due to past experience with new manager José Mourinho, the Red Devils are very much on the market for a midfielder, but there is a long way to go until Franco Vazquez is at Old Trafford.
