Manchester United To Sign Falcao As Van Persie Faces Surgery

Manchester United were set to make a dramatic deadline day signing with a €65 million fee agreed to sign Radamael Falcao in a  4-year deal according to Spanish newspaper AS. However it is now believed that Falcao will join in a loan deal worth £20 million.

The possible arrival of Falcao at Old Trafford is surprising due to United possessing talent such as Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie up front, however there is now doubts about Van Persie’s fitness.

According the Metro Van Persie could be facing knee surgery and there are fears that he may now not be 100% fit again. In a last minute move United now look set to sign Falcao in a deal that did not seem likely all summer.

With Javier Hernandez set to leave, the Colombian is likely to start up front with Wayne Rooney due to Van persie’s injury woes. It looks a potentially devastating partnership.

Falcao is represented by Jorge Mendes, a man that Manchester United have dealt with a number of times, nost recently with Nani leaving to Sporting and the high profile signing of Angel Di Maria. This may have given United the edge in negotiations over Manchester City.

Falcao had been been expected to move to Real Madrid but now Manchester United are expected to sign the striker to a loan deal.

News of the Colombian’s move will come as major blow to Arsenal and Manchester City as Falcao is a top quality striker. The Colombian impressed greatly with FC Porto before moving to Athletico Madrid scoring  70 goals in 90 appearances in two seasons with Diego Simeone’s side.

We could now see Danny Welbeck  leave as United have a number of options and the England international is unlikely to start in his favored central striking position.

Falcao is now set to the next high profile signing to arrive at Old Traford following the arrival of Angel Di Maria and Daley Blind.
