Manchester United face champions Leicester City at Old Trafford this afternoon in the Premier League, and there is huge pressure on the Red Devils. After three consecutive defeats, United bounced back to beat Northampton in the League Cup during the week, but today’s tie is simply massive.
If they lose to the champions at home today, they could find themselves nine points adrift of rivals and leaders Manchester City.
To say that today’s game is big is an understatement. Win, and the past three weeks will be written off as a dip in form. Lose or draw, and the entire squad will be under huge pressure.
There has been huge debate over the past few days whether or not José Mourinho should drop Wayne Rooney. The former Everton striker has been struggling for form of late, and large proportions of the Old Trafford faithful have lost their patience.
Rumours have been abounding this morning that the captain will be benched for today’s showdown, and few can argue that it will come as a surprise.
Mourinho, renowned for making tough decisions, has named his team for today’s crucial clash, and Rooney has been left out of the starting XI.
