Jose Mourinho is slowly putting his stamp on the Manchester United squad.
After spending over £150 million last summer, Manchester United could be about to score a massive £42 million in January by selling three cast-offs.
The news comes after The Mirror this afternoon reported that AC Milan are planning to offer United £25 million for Memphis Depay, who doesn’t seem to be part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
Although the Dutch winger has impressed at times since joining from PSV Eindhoven in 2015, Depay has struggled to consistently demonstrate his abilities.
As a result, United are open to the possibility of the winger. While the story remains within the realms of speculation at the moment, Ed Woodward will no doubt be tempted to recoup the £25 million he forked out for Depay last year.
Elsewhere, it looks as though Matteo Darmian’s days at Old Trafford are also numbered, after the Mirror also reported that Inter Milan are interested in signing the right back on loan in January before making the move permanent in the summer.
Although they don’t quote a transfer fee, last month The Independent claimed that United would let Darmian join Juventus in a similar arrangement if the Italian club were willing to pay £17 million once the loan arrangement concluded.
Finally, Jose Mourinho could also be about to free up £150,000 of Manchester United’s wage budget, after The Sun reported that FC Dallas are interested in taking Bastian Schweinsteiger off their hands.
