Manchester United Ready To Smash Club Record Fee For Champions League Winner

Man United

Forget Granit Xhaka’s move to Arsenal and even Renato Sanches’ surprise move to Bayern Munich, Manchester United are reportedly readying the biggest summer signing of them all.

Jose Mourinho is in rebuilding mode and looking to put together a squad of players that can once again take on the rest for Premier League and Champions League glory. The Portuguese boss has already signed Eric Bailly and United are reportedly eyeing other big names from around Europe. Plus, there is the will he/won’t he story that is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Now, according to Spanish publication El Confidencial, Mourinho and United are readying an incredible £94.6 million move for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.

While been linked to The Old Trafford club several times over the last couple of seasons, Bale has been a key figure in Real’s fortunes, since his world record transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.

Winning two Champions League titles in that time, it has been a very successful move for Bale himself, though he has never been a fan-favourite.

With 47 goals in some 81 appearances, Bale’s goalscoring credentials are not in doubt and he has formed a fantastic partnership with ex-Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo in La Liga.

Despite this, there have been persistent reports that he would like a move back to the Premier League and it now appears that United are willing to test the resolve of the player and club.

It is understood that Bale is a favourite of Real club president Florentino Perez so wrestling the Welshman away from Madrid would certainly be a tall order.

However, Premier League clubs like United have massive financial resources at their disposal thanks to lucrative television rights and would certainly be in a position to afford Bale’s huge wage demands.

The fact that United are in some serious need of an attacking midfielder who can change games and score goals puts Bale right in Mourinho’s crosshairs.

Now it just needs to be seen if a move is made and if this were to happen, it would surely be the biggest transfer of the season, bar none.
