Manchester United are expected to do more transfer business in the build-up to transfer deadline day, with a host of changes set to be made if reports in the media are to believed.
Jose Mourinho has made four stellar signings this summer, most notably Paul Pogba for £89m from Juventus, but yearns to find defensive reinforcements to cover the likely exits of two United defenders.
Firstly, Deporte Valenciano are claiming that Valencia are plotting a move to relieve the Red Devils of unpopular Argentine Marcos Rojo.
There have been various conflicting reports regarding Rojo’s future whereabouts so truth be told only the club and the player himself can assure us of the minute details, but the Spanish news outlet link the 2014 World Cup star with a £10.24m move to Spain.
True, it would be a loss of £6.5m for the club but Rojo has been more of a hindrance than an aid since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon.
Elsewhere, Phil Jones continues to be associated with moves to various Premier League clubs, but Stoke City are the outfit hotly tipped to acquire his services.
Arsenal seem to be moving in on the acquisition of Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia so any effort to sign Jones will now be dropped by the Gunners.
However, the Mirror suggest that a loan move could be on the cards for Jones to Mark Hughes’ side.
Now, onto the incoming moves..
Fabinho has been linked with a move to United for some time now but L’Equipe have claimed an exclusive today reporting that any move that could happen would proceed similarly to the way the Anthony Martial signing was handled.
Monaco are keen to hold on their star asset after the right-back scored the winner that put the French side in the Champions League stage at the expense of Villareal, but the Red Devils could do exactly what they did in the Martial move – that is, offer Monaco such a large sum of money that a refusal would be incomprehensible.
In this case, it is alleged that a €30 million offer is being readied.
Finally, Jose Fonte is the final target that Jose Mourinho has drafted to aid Daley Blind, Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling in defence.
The Daily Star have revealed that talks have been held between Fonte and Southampton’s representatives, whilst the two clubs have also held discussions in the past few days.
